School Progress and Academisation

As part of the process to becoming part of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (rather than a Local Authority school) the school undergoes a termly school performance review. These were the key outcomes earlier in the term:

Since the time of the last inspection school leaders have taken effective action in moving the school forward in all areas.

The school’s overall effectiveness requires improvement (no longer inadequate) but there are some aspects that are already good.

Please be assured that all the staff are working tirelessly to ensure we become a good school in our next inspection for the benefit of your children.

This is particularly challenging during the pandemic, but one that we are not willing to wriggle out of.

Timetable /Christmas Cards / Performances

Unfortunately, due to covid, we will not be able to undertake our usual nativity performance, involving all of Reception, Y1 and Y2.

Instead, we are concentrating on focused learning to close the learning gaps which children are displaying, until the last week of term.

The children will perform a Christmas song and actions to other classes plus experience a live panto performance, as we cannot visit the theatre.

Christmas cards can be brought in but must have the name and class on the front of the envelope and MUST be placed in the post box in each phase. Children CANNOT hand cars out to staff or children, in order to prevent the risk of infection. Cards will be left in the post box, left for two days and delivered 2/3 times a week.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Healthy Snacks

Please can we remind parents/carers that children should only be bringing healthy snacks to school for mid-morning break and at lunch time ie fruit, healthy snack bars; not chocolate, biscuits and crisps.

Supporting Your Child at Home Learning Consultation

We do understand that many parents were concerned about their child’s performance when receiving the information from class teachers, instead of at a learning consultation meeting.

As in the rest of the country, the majority of children are performing below where they were in March but the children’s books do show that so many of them are making great progress.

We will be undertaking assessments at the end of term and will share the children’s progress next term.

Can we please ask that you continue to use the areas your child needs to work on: as we can clearly see the difference it is making to your child’s confidence and progress.

If you have not been able to do this, please make the time. It does not replace any of the school’s efforts but does support your child in addressing the education they have missed due to covid.

School Council

Children in Need – Your contributions exceeded our target and the final sum was £328. Thank you so much for considering others in these difficult times.

Christmas Dress Up Day – FREE – Tuesday 15th December. Wear a Christmas jumper, anything Christmassy or wear the colours of a Christmas tree! Just for fun!

Hearts for Homes – the children have been thinking

about what a difficult year it has been for many and wanted to share some joy with others, who can’t be with their family. They have asked if they could write or draw joyful messages for local care home residents. These will be delivered by Miss Finney in the last week of term.
