End of term planning - Friday 18th December

Yesterday, the Department for Education (DfE) gave schools permission to close on Friday 18th December:

  • In recognition that school staff have worked tirelessly over the last term to limit the spread of the virus and included their important role in contract tracing, which has led to additional work over weekends and holidays, as during half term at Osborne Primary School.
  • In order to avoid leaders and staff potentially having to undertake contact tracing if a positive case is reported to school on Christmas Day.
  • So leaders and staff will not be asked to play a role in contract tracing after Christmas Eve.

As a result, the school and Chair of Governors have taken the decision that school will be open on the morning of Friday 18th December, but will close at 12:15/12:30 to ALL children.

There will be no Friday afternoon Club.

Arrangements for reporting positive cases in the holidays:

  • Where a pupil develops symptoms of coronavirus on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th December and then tests positive; school should be contacted via the school mobile number: 07833059345.
  • Staff responsible for contract tracing will respond to calls or messages about Covid ONLY during 10:00 am – noon daily. Please leave a text or voice message if the number is not answered, including the following information:

Child’s name and class

Parent/carer’s name

Date symptoms started and positive result given.

  • School will then text any parent/carer whose child is identified as a close contact and needs to self-isolate. The letter will be on the website and sent via Marvellous Me, so please ensure you are signed up.
  • If a pupil develops symptoms from Monday 21st December school should NOT be contacted. Instead parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.
