Update Letter 05.01.2020

Tuesday 5th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your understanding and supportive comments during the many e-mail and telephone conversations, that you have engaged in, with various staff members today.

Also, a huge thank you to all of the Osborne staff who are so keen to be working with and supporting you and your children. They have worked tirelessly today to make sure everything is ready for tomorrow, and I am proud to be part of such an amazing team.

Priority and Key Worker Children

Around 70 children have been offered a place in school for direct teaching.

The provision in school will be very different to the first lockdown in March. All of the children’s day will be spent on learning, therefore children should:

Arrive punctually

Wear uniform

Attend daily

Follow school rules, values and procedures

Parents/Carers should ensure:

Children arrive punctually at 8:45.

Children are collected punctually at 3:00pm.

Children wear school uniform.

Contact the school daily, if a child will not be attending, as all attendance has to be reported to the Department for Education.

Entering and Leaving School

YR and Y1 – at the Y1 gate

Y2 and Y3 – at the gate opposite Wilton Road

Y4, 5 and Y6 – at the car park gate

Those children in school, will be grouped together in three bubbles, as other staff will need to teach the same lessons remotely, to those children at home.

Remote Learning

It is important that the children get into a routine during the next six weeks, and complete all of the following tasks, in order to ensure they continue to make good progress and for the school to meet the specific, remote learning expectations from the government.

A report will be sent to parent/carers by 15.01.21 identifying the progress your child made from September to December and identifying the main gaps in their learning.

A weekly overview will be uploaded onto the school website, so that parents can plan their day, ensuring their children:

  • Attend ALL live teaching sessions
  • Watch ALL recorded sessions.
  • Complete ALL quizzes (tasks) on Teams

This will enable staff to provide feedback on an individual basis and plan for teaching any misconceptions in the next day’s lesson.

Loans of Electronic Devices

Families identified for a loan of one of these devices will be contacted tomorrow morning via the telephone, and the devices should be collected at the times below, in order to ensure social distancing and reducing the mixing of families.

Currently there are not enough devices in school, so families have had to be prioritised following guidance. We are hoping to receive more from the government.

These laptops are a precious resource and if the laptops are not collected, they will be allocated to another family.

Parent/carers will need to sign for the loan of the laptop and are fully responsible for the sake keeping and responsible use. Software monitoring is installed and reviewed by school on all laptops, to ensure only appropriate material is viewed online. Misuse will result on the removal of the laptop and possible further actions or consequences.

Without internet access

As before, school will provide work packs for those families who do not have access to the internet. (We asked for some routers to be delivered a while ago but they have still not arrived.) These along with an exercise book, stationery pack (pencils, ruler etc) can also be collected at the times below, without receiving a phone call.

Laptop / Work Pack / Stationery Collection Times from the gate opposite Wilton Road.

Free School Meals

Currently, we are unsure as to whether vouchers will be arranged. If not, a weekly food parcel may be arranged which would need to be collected from school. However, we are awaiting further information and will contact you, as soon as we know.

Please stay safe and take care,

Michelle Gay
