Newsletter 17.12.21

Wishing you a happy holiday.

Thank you from everyone at Osborne for the support you have given to children and staff throughout another difficult term.

We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful new year, with children returning to school on Wednesday 5th January 2022.

School Performances

A huge thanks to your children and the staff for working so hard to ensure these performances are rehearsed and enjoyed by all. They are a huge part of school life that we have dearly missed over the last year or so.

Please remember, that these performances MUST NOT be shared on any social media platform.

New guidance regarding isolation and daily LFD tests after contact with positive Covid-19 cases

All adults who are fully vaccinated and children aged 5 to 18 years and 6 months, identified as a contact of someone with Covid-19 – whether Omicron or not – should take a lateral flow device (LFD) test every day for 7 days instead of self-isolating.

Once notified by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact, all eligible staff, pupils and students should:

·        Take an LFD each day for 7 days and report the results through the Online Reporting System and to their school.

·         If they test negative, they can continue to attend school.

·         If they test positive, they should self-isolate and order a PCR test to confirm the result. If the PCR is positive, they must self-isolate for 10 days. If the PCR test is negative, they no longer need to self-isolate but should continue to carry out the remainder of the daily tests, and only need to isolate if it is positive.

  • Anyone over the age of 18 years and 6 months who is not vaccinated, must isolate in line with government guidelines if they are a close contact of a positive case.
  • This approach should also be adopted over the winter break and on return in January.

Please ensure your family follows this advice and keeps the transmission of Covid-19 as low as possible.

If a positive case is reported in school a letter will be sent out to the class or year group concerned.

After School Clubs

Places at After School Clubs, next term, are currently being set up via Parent Pay, but are not yet live.

In order to ensure every child has at least one place at a club of their choice, parents will be sent a link (in the first week of next term) for the club that their child will be able to attend. There were over 150 responses for 80 clubs and if they are well attended and paid for, then school will look into the possibility of organising more activities.

Currently, there are only 5 spaces left for the construction club on Tuesdays, as all other clubs are full.

Bring it on Brum! Birmingham Christmas Holiday Activity Programme

This is a Holiday Activity and Food Programme that helps children and their families who access free school meals to have active, fun-filled and healthy school holidays in local schools. The vouchers to access the activities will be sent out via e-mail, tomorrow.

The website has all of the information on the winter programme.
